Akhmed’s mother finally got to claim his body several days ago, and they had a very simple funeral today to bury him. We all know it’s extremely hard to lose a child, a family member, a Christian brother for many of us and a committed Metro World Child team member in Gaza.
As you’ve all seen on the news, the situation on the Gaza Strip has been extremely difficult for so many and changing by the moment. At Ahkmed’s funeral, three of the young volunteers that he had won to the Lord made the decision to carry on with Metro Sunday School this weekend.
They wanted to remember Akhmed. The 20-year-old Han, the oldest among the three, told me even though they know the risks, they also know the same reason Jesus died on the cross is exactly the same reason they are willing to give their lives for the Palestinian children to hear the gospel.
Andrew is Israeli and was a close friend to Ahkmed. He is trying to get a truck load of food to feed the Palestinian kids that barely have enough to survive in the Jabalia refugee camp in the north of Gaza where the Metro volunteers will start the Sunday School.
He is going to get the food to the border and our young Palestinian volunteers will bring the food across and serve it to the kids at the end of the Sunday School.
It’s the lives of these children that matter and that has nothing to do with the war. It’s simply 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛 for these kids 𝗡𝗢𝗪, and for 𝗘𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬.
Ahkmed died because for 8 years he knew the gospel is the only thing that would make a difference in the lives of his people. And now, Andrew, our Jewish team member and our Palestinian volunteers are more committed than ever to 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗗.
Pray for our children, pray for the team and pray that they are able to get the food supplies across the border. It’s going to be a critical weekend.
So, we start Metro Sunday School again, even in the middle of a war. And in the midst of this war, the story still continues……… 𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘂𝘀’ 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲…….

Psalm 122 v 1-2
1. I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
2. Our feet have been standing
Within your gates, O Jerusalem!
Psalm 122 v 6-8
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” For my brothers and companions' sake I will say, “Peace be within you!”
